Country Thunder is a huge event for the area, located in Twin Lakes, Wisconsin. With another huge crowd this year make sure to take precaution to deal with the heat.
It you were there yesterday, you know it was a rough day with temperatures in the 90's and not only that but heat index in the 100's. Temperatures then dropped quickly in the evening when a bowing line of storms moved into the area from northern Wisconsin. This brought with it strong damaging winds and heavy rainfall. Southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois also had effects from that system in the evening, leaving many residents without power.
This Friday morning is still muggy, but dry. Temperatures in the low 70's will once again climb into the low 90's. We pair that with dew points in the 70's, which brings heat index values into the 100's. Once again there is a chance for a few isolated storms today, with better coverage possible on Saturday. Today, we have a cap or essentially a 'lid' over the area in the atmosphere that limits storm potential. However, by tomorrow I do think we will see enough lift in the atmosphere to break through that cap, especially by the late afternoon.
Though we are tracking a weak cool front sinking south through the area this morning, it stalls half way through and that keeps temperatures in the 90's and humidity in place today. That boundary then lifts north as a warm front Saturday keeping highs near 90° into Sunday.
Another cold front pulls through late Sunday, and then that will bring temperatures closer to average next week.
Make sure though if you are spending a lot of time outside to drink lots of water, re-apply sunblock, and find some shade!
