Another Nor'easter for the Northeast

While northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin will see a few flurries today and tomorrow, but the overall snow threat is fairly low. However, there are two systems bringing snow across the southeast and northeast coasts.

One area of low pressure will bring snow accumulation through northern Indiana, Michigan, and northern Ohio. The low that many will be watching though is currently positioned just off the Carolina coast. This low pressure system will rapidly strengthen as it lifts northeast through the Atlantic. Reports indicate the system already dropped 7" of snow across some areas in Kentucky, and it's forecast to bring over a foot of snow to some in the Northeast. This is the third Nor'easter to hit the area in the last two weeks!

Through it's path there are millions of people under Winter Weather Advisories(purple) and Winter Storm Warnings(pink). The position and path of this Nor'easter is a bit more east than the past two, and this will thankfully keep the strongest winds and highest waves just off the coast and over the Atlantic. Off the coast there are hurricane force wind warnings is place with winds increasing today and tonight. Winds will be at 35 to 45 knots this afternoon, and increasing to 60-70 knots this evening. Seas will be rough with waves also increasing today and tonight. This afternoon seas will be at 9-15ft and then up to 14-23ft this evening.

As the low lingers and cold air wraps in, snow will be possible over New York through the middle of the week.
