The forecast for tonight is still on track, so there aren't many changes to the post that Chief Meteorologist Candice King wrote below. However, the NWS has issued a Winter Weather Advisory that will go into effect at 11pm this evening for Carroll, Whiteside, Ogle, Lee, and DeKalb counties, and will expire at 8am Saturday morning. This is the area that has the higher threat of freezing rain lasting for a couple of hours overnight. Accumulation could reach near 0.1" of an inch south of Rockford.
As mentioned in the post below, it is possible that pavement temperatures are warm enough to prevent ice accumulations on area roads. However, bridges and overpasses, and other elevates areas have a higher threat to have a glaze of ice. It's definitely something to be aware of overnight and into tomorrow morning, and to keep in mind as you head out the door. Snow accumulations will remain below a half inch, and ice will be less that 0.1" near Rockford, with some areas north and east of Rockford not seeing any at all.
