Let's first look on the bright side - it didn't rain and it didn't snow. But it sure was chilly Sunday afternoon. Cloud cover was quick to build in as snow fell over northern Missouri, southern Iowa and central Illinois Sunday afternoon. Those clouds move out as a brief area of high pressure moves back in Monday morning.
Temperatures Sunday only warmed into the low 30's thanks to an abundance of cloud cover. The high in Rockford was 32 degrees, which tied the record for the coldest high temperature ever recorded on April 1st. Previous record was 32 degrees in 1993. It was also the coldest Easter temperature in over 40 years! Yikes! The last time the temperature fell into the low 30's was back on March 30th, 1975 when the high was only 30 degrees.
