It's official! This morning at the Chicago Rockford
International Airport we received our first snow of the season. The
airport received a trace of snow as some mixed rain/snow showers moved
through the area. The earliest we have received a trace of snow was back
on October 3, 1951.
Normally, we receive our first trace of snow in
early November. So today's trace of snow is earlier than normal, but not unheard of. Usually our first inch of snowfall comes towards the beginning of December. So there is more snow ahead for us.
This past Friday night and into Saturday morning, we bottomed out at 29° and that marks our first freeze of the year. Tonight we will see the potential for some frost with lows down into the lower 30s. A warm up as we go into Thursday night with lows into the upper 40s.
