A Flash Flood Watch has been issued for Green and Rock counties in southern Wisconsin and for Stephenson, Jo Daviess, Carroll, Whiteside, Ogle, Lee, Winnebago and Boone counties in northern Illinois beginning Friday evening, lasting through Saturday afternoon.
The cold front that passed late Wednesday night will begin to lift back north through southern and central Illinois during the afternoon Friday. Ahead of the front, abundant cloud cover will hold temperatures in the low to mid 60's during the afternoon. Light rain showers will be likely early Friday morning, but those are not expected to be heavy.
By Friday evening the warm front will be lifting into northern Illinois with showers and thunderstorms increasing in coverage between 9pm and 10pm. As moisture continues to move northward with the warm front, thunderstorms will continue through Saturday morning. Some of the thunderstorms Friday night could be strong with hail and strong wind gusts.
Rainfall amounts will add up to a couple inches in some locations, with highest amounts expected over southwest Wisconsin and northwest Illinois.
Another cold front will pass Saturday night but showers will continue into Sunday afternoon. As a result, temperatures will be held in the low 60's during the afternoon.
