Meteorological Spring

March 1st is the meteorological start to Spring! The months of March, April and May are considered meteorological spring. The official start to Spring is still 19 days away on March 20th at 4:58pm.

I know someone that is looking forward to Spring, and that is Alice Fernandez. Alice sent in this spring time picture she painted.







So since we are now into March and Meteorological Spring, let's take a look back over the month of February. A majority of the month, 18 days, we experienced below average temperatures. Only 9 days in February were we above average. We ended the month with four straight days of below average temperatures, and it looks like much of the upcoming 7-day forecast will continue to be below average.

Tonight and into early Saturday we have the chance to see some light snow move across the region. Much of the snow should stay over Wisconsin, but the Stateline area could also see a little.





Much of the Stateline should see between a coating to around an inch of snow into early Saturday.







Sunday, Monday and Tuesday are going to be so far below average that we could be talking about record breaking cold high temperatures each day. The record stands at 15° Sunday for the coldest high temperature, and I'm forecasting 16°. The record stands at 14° Monday for the coldest high temperature, and I'm forecasting 12°. The record stands at 17° Tuesday for the coldest high temperature, and I'm forecasting 16°. So we have a pretty good chance to tie/break some records.

Sunday we also have a another chance to see some snow, but we should be right on the northern fringe. Much of the snow should stay over southern and central portions of the state.
