A Wind Chill Advisory has been issued for all of northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin beginning Sunday evening and lasting through Monday morning. Wind chills have already fallen below zero in many locations west of Rockford, with chills expected to fall as low as -25 degrees area wide by Monday morning.
Frostbite can occur within 20-30 minutes on exposed skin with wind chills that low. Northwest winds will remain through Monday afternoon, gusting at times to 25 mph. Temperatures Monday will only warm to 10 degrees, but with the breeze wind chills will remain on either side of 0 degrees during the afternoon. Temperatures will slowly warm through the end of the week, but still fall shy of where they should be this time of year. Average highs should be in the low 40s.
