Funnel Clouds Sighted in Stateline Area

A very busy afternoon of weather suddenly greeted some Stateline residents this afternoon. Trained spotters in northeastern Stephenson county reported multiple funnel clouds. One trained spotter actually sighted a tornado on the ground near Orangeville at about 4:03pm. Furthermore, funnel clouds were sighted in sections of Winnebago county at about the same time! A pilot reported a funnel cloud 7 miles east of South Beloit at about 3:55pm. The tornado sirens in Winnebago county were also going off just before our 5:00 news! This sent a thrill up my spine, but fortunately the sirens were triggered by accident as there was no tornado in the area. --TS
