Chills through Halloween?

Meteorologist Max Tsaparis blogged yesterday that a digging trough within the jet stream across the Midwest is what's responsible for the cooler than normal temperatures we're going to begin experiencing - beginning today!  This cooler than normal pattern, however, does look to continue until maybe just a few days before Halloween.

Average highs through next Wednesday, the 23rd, should be in the low 60s but forecast highs through that time will be 4 to 11 degrees below normal.  A series of upper level disturbances (mini low pressure systems several thousand feet above) will each help tug a little more cool air from the north as they pass through the Great Lakes and move into the Northeast.  After next Wednesday average highs drop to the upper 50s but a stronger system next week may only keep highs in the 40s!  In fact, some to the north will only be in the 40s this weekend.  While the overall trend points towards below average weather a slight warm up may occur just a few days before Halloween, but it does look like another chill may follow once the ghosts and goblins pass.
