Weekend Outlook: Few showers Saturday but sunshine returns Sunday

Low pressure strengthening in the Plains Friday will pull a cold front through the Midwest over the weekend.  Rain stays out west Friday but clouds will be on the increase as winds pick up from the southeast.  A few showers are possible late tonight - likely after 2am - west of Rockford and then across North-Central Illinois Saturday morning. By Saturday afternoon scattered showers, with an isolated thunderstorm, will be likely early but most of the rain should move east and be out of here by supper time.  Rainfall totals will remain on the lighter side (unless you're under a thunderstorm) and generally below half an inch.

High pressure will quickly move in Saturday night behind the front and settle overhead Sunday.  Skies will remain partly cloudy Sunday with temperatures reaching the middle 60s.  Overnight lows both Saturday and Sunday night look to drop into the middle 40s.
