Flash Flooding in Dixon

A strong thunderstorm that developed along a mid-level wave (disturbance) in the atmosphere produced localized flash flooding in Lee county. The wave was fairly weak, but we had enough instability built up along with high levels of moisture available that led to a heavy rain producing
storm that tracked east trough Whiteside county through Ogle and Lee counties before fizzling in DeKalb county and sinking southeast.

Some radar estimated rain fall totals tally 2.50" to 4.60" inches of rain near the Dixon area. Local emergency management and police in the area reported many road closures as well in the area, along with multiple businesses inundated with water. Some of the reports include:
Route 26 at route 52 was closed with water up to 2 feet over the road, and nearby businesses were flooded.
Lowell Park Road also closed due to flooding. Water was reported over the road on Palmyra road just off of Route 2. Also three businesses in downtown Dixon were flooded, along with many filled ditches. Some emergency management officials measures 3 inches of rain  one mile NW of Dixon around 4am this morning.

One report relayed to the NWS office of 4.60" of rain in southwest Dixon.
