This January Could Fall into the Top Ten Least Snowiest January Months on Record

To say snow has been hard to come by during the month of January would be an understatement.  As of January 31st Rockford has only recorded 0.7" of snow, nearly 10 inches below average.

With the monthly snow total falling below one inch, this will likely place January 2017 in the top ten list of least snowiest January months on record.  It's been quite a surprise considering how much snow occurred during the month of December.  A quick glance at the beginning of February shows a brief warm up followed by another cool down late next week.  But there appears to be no big snow systems on the horizon.
