A Freezing Rain Advisory is in place for northern Illinois as temperatures begin to fall below freezing following a cold front.

Light rain has developed along and south of Highway 20 with a transition over to freezing rain and freezing drizzle further north.  Surface temperatures will continue to trend down below freezing through 9pm as the rain/freezing rain mixture moves east.  After 9pm/10pm most of the rain will be done, but drier air moving in will
keep the threat for freezing drizzle during the overnight.  Any ice accumulations will be very light, but it doesn't take much ice to cause problems on the road.  Surface temperatures will remain in the low 20's which will keep the threat for icy roads through Thursday morning.
