Above Average Snowfall Plus More Snow Chances

The snowy trend continues! But before talking about this week's forecast, let's take a quick look back.  We've seen just under 25" of snow, about 2/3 of what we see in a average season.  If we continue this pace, Rockford will be well above the seasonal snowfall average.  But even though we have a few snow chances this week, it doesn't look like more than a few inches of snow will accumulate.

However, on Monday, temps will be above freezing in the mid 30s and we could actually see a little rainfall impacting the area.  There won't be much and not everyone gets in on the showers, but it'll be enough to continue to melt the snow.  All of the snow won't melt off and we'll actually add a fresh layer of snow as we go into Tuesday.  Temps will fall below freezing Monday night into Tuesday and stay there for the rest of the week. An Alberta Clipper will advance towards the upper Midwest and drop a couple inches of snow on Tuesday. - MT
