6:53 update: Heavier snow band developing north of Rockford across northern Winnebago and Boone counties.  Visibility will drop to a mile or less under the heavier snow bands.

Good morning & Happy New Year!  Hopefully you survived last night's snowfall as additional snow has already returned to Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin.  Most areas received between 3" and 4" of snow with higher amounts a little further east of Rockford.  Look for an additional 2" to 3" of snow by this evening.  Roads will remain snow covered, but manageable if you take your time.  As the snow continues to fall visibility will be reduced with northeast winds 10-20 mph.  This may also cause a little blowing & drifting on east/west roads through tonight and Thursday.  Storm snowfall totals will range between 4" and 8", just as we forecasted.
