Weekend Warmth continues Monday

The weather this past weekend couldn't have been any better, considering we're a week into November.  High temperatures both Saturday and Sunday were close to, if not reaching or surpassing, 70 degrees!  Saturday's high of 70 degrees in Rockford was just four degrees away from a record high.  Sunday's high temperature wasn't that far off either.  Officially we reached 69 degrees, still very close to the record high of 74 degrees set all the way back in 1924.

Monday will be a repeat of the weekend, but with an approaching cold front from the west we'll see a little more cloud cover later in the day.  That front will help to knock down temperatures a little by Tuesday and Wednesday.

Strong west winds Thursday will boost highs right back into the 60's before a second, and stronger cold front, arrives Thursday night and Friday.  This is what will bring highs back down closer to average for the start of next weekend.  It could also give us our first below freezing overnight lows this season!  The core of the cold air will be positioned a little further over the eastern Great Lakes and Northeast.  So while it will definitely be cooler than the weather we've had the past several weeks, it's not going to be extremely cold.
