Its been a soggy start to 2017 with more rain than snow. Showers and storms moved across the area overnight and early this morning ahead of an incoming low pressure system. Rain totals were much higher where storms passed through. Some areas picking up around an inch of rain, while the Rockford area received a little over a quarter of an inch.
There is snow in the forecast....but it just misses the Stateline area. A quick moving low will dive south of the area and bring a quick shot of accumulating snow. However, that will fall just south of the area, the best chance is just south and a long of I-80. Accumulations won't be much in central Illinois, around an inch to three.
Surface high pressure arrives Thursday, and while it will be the coldest day of the week we finally get some sunshine!
