3:50pm Update: Scattered storms will continue to move through the area through this evening. Some of them have already produced hail and heavy rainfall. A lot of the instability resides to our south where they saw more sunshine earlier today and this is likely where the severe storms will stay. Having said that, even the storms that move through the rest of this evening could still produce small hail and heavy rainfall. We'll continue to watch the storms moving into Lee county as well as the one in northwest Jo Daviess county.
11:50am Update: A few thunderstorms have developed out in eastern Iowa and will continue to move east around 25 mph. Right now severe thunderstorm warnings have been issued just for the counties to the west of the Mississippi River (Jackson and Jones in Iowa). There is just enough instability across northwest Illinois that they may hold their own as they cross over the river into Jo Daviess, Carroll and Whiteside counties. If they were to hold together hail up to quarter size, gusty winds and heavy rainfall would be possible.
