Memorial Day Weekend: 'Battle Zone' stays west but storm threat increases early next week
Canadian high pressure moving in this evening will help clear away cloud cover from Thursday morning but also pull down enough cool air for patchy frost to develop by Friday morning. High pressure will remain over the Great Lakes through the weekend as a developing low pressure system builds in the Plains. A stationary boundary will sit just to the west Saturday and Sunday keeping the majority of showers/storms along the Mississippi River. The cool and dry east/southeast breeze will keep temperatures in the 60's Saturday and Sunday before a rise back into the low 70's return by Memorial Day. Rain/storm chances will increase late in the weekend as the warm front begins to lift closer to Northern Illinois late Sunday and early Monday.
