Updated crop report
Great news! Corn planting was in full swing last week with not only northern Illinois experiencing dry and warm weather but also the majority of the state of Illinois. Statewide, corn planting jumped from 17% last week up to 74% this week. It's also been reported that many farmers have all their corn crop planted and have moved on to planting soybeans. The percentage of corn that has emerged has increased as well from 2% last week to 16% this week. The percentage of corn planted puts us closer to our five year average which stands at 77%. For the percentage of corn emerged we're still behind as the five year average is 52%.
