An ongoing cluster of showers and thunderstorms will continue to move out of eastern Iowa this morning. While they've been weakening a little, some of the storms have been able to hold their own. While instability across N. IL and S. WI remains low there's a decent amount of moisture within the atmosphere. If this cluster continues to stick together as it crosses over the Mississippi River heavy rain and possibly small hail would be the primary threats.
It looks like another active day of weather across the middle of the country. Northwest Illinois and
southwest Wisconsin have been highlighted within the slight risk for severe thunderstorms. It remains a little uncertain as to how the storms from this morning will affect any destabilization in the atmosphere later this afternoon. However, storms are expected to redevelop in central Iowa and possibly southern Minnesota later this afternoon and move east through the evening. Strong, damaging wind gusts and large hail would be the primary concerns with any storms that develop, or move in, later in the day. Be sure to stay up-to-date with the weather today as well as for Monday and Tuesday. The severe weather threat continues both those days.
