A Closer Look At Thursday Night's Freezing Rain

The first of two winter storms will move in Thursday night and it could make for a very slick and messy Friday morning commute.

Here's a look at the Storm Impact Forecast for Thursday night and Friday morning. Since the Stateline is right on the freezing line for this next storm, we've broken it up by area instead of time. Depending on where you live, you could be talking anything from accumulating ice to just a few showers tonight.

Futurecast Model: Tonight at Midnight
Our Futurecast model does a great job of visualizing what we can expect overnight. Areas in green have less of a chance of seeing freezing rain, while areas in the pink have the best chance. Since temperatures will play such a huge role in what we see tonight, just remember this rule of thumb: If temps drop below 32°, look for freezing rain.

The National Weather Service has issued a Freezing Rain Advisory for most of the viewing area. If you live in Lee or DeKalb counties, just remember that some wintry mix will still be possible tonight. More than likely, though, it won't be of the freezing variety.

Potentially icy weather will continue through Friday morning, so be aware that treacherous roads will still be possible for the end of the work week. Then we gear up for the weekend's big storm. More on that coming soon. -BA
