Temperatures fell below zero this morning for the second time this week under clear skies and a fresh snow pack. The record low for this morning is -9° set back in 2000 and while we didn't break it, we came very close. At 1am the temperature dropped to -7°, but it's possible we could have fallen to -8° between hours.
The cloud cover and wind shift direction to the southwest have been slowly warming temperatures this morning. Highs this afternoon will rise into the upper teens. We won't be as cold tonight, but the chills will last through the weekend.
Many have asked if temperatures are going to warm up anytime soon. At this point, it looks like by the middle of next week we could get back to average, which should be the low 30's, but it also looks like within the next two weeks there could be two bigger storm systems that will impact the middle of the U.S. The first coming towards the end of next week and the second coming a little before Christmas. The warm up can't come soon enough!
