As a cold front sweeps through late Wednesday, it dissipates the nagging fog. It'll also cause for much breezier and colder conditions for the next several days. But just why were we so foggy for 39 hours straight?
Several ingredients came together to cause the reduced visibility issues. A stationary front draped right over the Stateline allowing for calm winds at ground level. In the low to mid levels of the atmosphere, winds blew out of the Gulf of Mexico allowing for the air to be very sticky. That saturated air settled down to the surface and caused for abnormally dense and long-lived fog. - MT
