It wasn't exactly a nice end to the work week with the cloudy, rainy, and now foggy conditions. There's a lot of moisture moving in out of the south, which brought up our dew points, allowing the fog to form. The fog will stay dense throughout the night, before clearing up tomorrow after 9am. Along with that, we've got some showers moving through the Stateline, with a few isolated areas of heavy rainfall.
Showers will become lighter during the overnight, and will stay with us through tomorrow morning. However, once we get to tomorrow afternoon, temperatures will actually be cooling down, contrary to what usually happens. This is because our winds will shift out of the north, and those winds will be strong as well. Winds could gust up to 30mph tomorrow afternoon. With this cold air moving in, chances for a rain/snow mix go up tomorrow afternoon. The wintry mix will then clear out by tomorrow evening.
Even though it'll be a gray start to the weekend, next week is looking much more promising. By the time we get to Sunday we'll see more sunshine, but temperatures will stay cold in the mid 30's. However, a big chance will be coming next week. A high pressure system will form out in the plains during the day on Sunday.
Once we get into Monday, that high pressure system will then track to the south of our area. Once it's positioned over Tennessee, it'll begin to pull in warmer air towards our area, which will help to warm our temperatures going into the work week. We're expected to hit the mid to upper 40's Monday afternoon.
However, there's another factor in play. Since that warm air will be moving into our area due to the high pressure system, we'll also get less cloud cover.....and that means more sunshine!! So we'll get a warm AND sunny start to the work week. Temperatures will drop back into the upper 30's to low 40's again by Wednesday, but the sunshine is expected to stay with us for most of next week.
