If you remember back to September, it was a warm but dry month. We only picked up a half inch of rain, leaving the Stateline at a deficit of almost three inches. Officially the total was 2.84" below average for the month which left much of the state, and Stateline under either moderate drought or abnormally dry conditions. But we more than made up for it for the month of October.
It was a soggy October indeed, with rainfall totals adding up over five and a half inches! The average for the month is 2.67" of rain, and Rockford's total climbed to 5.85", making this the 7th wettest October on average.
We've got quite a few shower chances coming up in the forecast this week, and even thunderstorms possible by Sunday. By the end of the week, we could add anywhere from a half of an inch to an inch of rain to the rain gauge.
