Thunderstorms have been hard to come by so far locally as a warm front surged north into Wisconsin this afternoon. This brought temperatures into the upper 70s, with a few locations reaching 80 degrees! The warmth was also accompanied by a rise in dew point temperatures making it feel a little muggy outside.
Thunderstorms were quick to develop to the southeast where a few severe thunderstorm warnings were issued. Those storms extend southwest into west-central Illinois. Over the last few hours this has been the area with the greatest severe weather risk.

But the storms near Quincy, IL will continue to move northeast with storm coverage gradually increasing over the next hour or two. We are already beginning to see a few isolated showers and storms form near Amboy, IL in Lee County.
There remains a low risk for a strong/severe storm or two through the evening, but widespread severe weather is not expected. The biggest threats with any storm that does develop locally would be wind and hail. Any threat for severe weather will diminish after sunset with heavier rain showers possible through early Friday morning.
A cold front moving through will bring a return of drier air Friday as temperatures warm into the low 70s.
