Tuesday was as beautiful as a spring day can get. In fact, Rockford's high of 75° helped round out the month of April with a four day stretch of 70s. Such warmth is set to carry on into not only the first few days of May, but also into next week.
A pleasant Wednesday is on tap following last night's frontal passage. While this did change our winds to the northwest, were in for another seasonably mild day thanks to our good friend the sun. Expect highs to top out in the low 70s, marking the 5th straight day with highs at or above the 70° mark.
Clouds increase late in the day, paving the way for a round of scattered showers overnight. Lows will end up in the 50s again, this time low 50s.
Forecast models for days have been hinting at a warm front lifting into northern Illinois Thursday. It's this warm front that we will have to monitor for a low risk for severe weather during the afternoon/evening.Overnight, the Storm Prediction Center did expand the level 1 Marginal Risk east to include areas west of Janesville, Belvidere, and Rochelle.
This will mainly be for damaging winds and a tornado or two. From there, we can expect heavier bouts of rain to move in Thursday evening into Friday morning. Once chances come to a close, conditions will rapidly dry out into mid-day. This will leave partly cloudy with temperatures in the low 70s. As previously mentioned, temperatures this warm look to stick around for the weekend and into the beginning of next week.
