Gloomy November to continue into Thanksgiving week

Snow chances are done for the time being, though this gloomy November will continue.

On the backside of yesterday's snow-maker, moisture in place has left us with lots of clouds. Skies won't look any different this afternoon as we hold on to a mostly cloudy to overcast sky. Winds thankfully won't be as strong, peaking at 25 to 30 mph prior to midday. This, along with the overcast skies will hold afternoon temperatures in the low 40s.

Clouds are to be dominant over the weekend, though though a few peeks of sun can’t be ruled out. In a similar fashion to this afternoon, highs will peak in the low 40s Saturday, then make the climb towards the 50-degree mark on Sunday.

With Sunday's cloud cover will come a slim chance for a rain/snow mix shower as a weak storm system tracks over the IL/WI border.

Signals exists for another storm system to arrive closer to the Thanksgiving holiday. One that could also bring the chance for a rain/snow mix. However, there still is plenty of time for the finer details to get hashed out, though I will say forecast models have kept most of the precipitation with next week's system south of the region, south of I-80. Afternoon highs start in the 40s, then cool into the 30s for Tuesday, Wednesday, and for Thanksgiving.
