Who remembers Veterans Day 2019?
Snow was in the forecast and it ended up leaving Rockford with its snowiest Veterans Day on record as 3.2" was observed at the airport. The previous record was 1.6" of snow back in 1995.
Fortunately, the forecast this time around doesn't include snow chances, though a cold front is scheduled to slide through.
This boundary will be moisture starved, meaning there will be little to no chance for rain with it. The bigger headline is going to be the wind change as winds turn breezy out of the northwest.
Temperatures will peak in the low 50s late in the morning towards midday, then drop into the low 40s by the evening commute. For those going in any Veterans Day events, make sure to have a warm layer on. Skies remain mostly clear overnight, allowing temperatures to fall into the upper 20s.
As Tuesday's area of high pressure pushes east, our next storm system will begin to take shape. This will increase cloud cover into Wednesday, which will bring a small chance for showers. Afternoon highs remain mild in the low 50s.
