With the passing week bringing the first winter feel to the state line we can begin to look ahead into next week where another cooling trend is expected to develop. First looking back at this week, we had seen not only our first snowfall, but even measurable snowfall as multiple portions of the state line received at least a half inch of snow with some of the eastern portions receiving up to 2 inches! Although conditions to get incredibly cold, much cooler surface temperatures are expected next week.
Before looking at next week, the weekend will offer some of our last "fall feeling" weather until we start to transition into a colder and more "winter feel". This weekend cloud cover will stick around for the majority of the time. But with high pressure nearby Saturday, we'll remain calm until tomorrow where stronger upper-level winds move in which will help fuel a few scattered showers into the nighttime hours. Our first cold punch of air will arrive Monday night into the early morning hours of Tuesday. With this cold punch the main concerns will be overnight temperatures dropping into the 20's and possible low 20's as well as snow chances increasing through the nighttime hours. Temperatures during the daytime will remain just above freezing but into the nighttime those temperatures drop so any day with available moisture, mixed precipitation as well as snow will be possible. With some of the nights to come like previously mentioned some mixed precipitation as well as snow will be possible with the overnight lows below freezing. Monday as of now looks to have the highest chance as consistent rain through the day will allow for some snow showers to set up as temperatures cool at night. Don't expect all too much accumulation from these nights though!Towards the end of the week even colder conditions are expected as even colder temperatures will be funneled down from Canada. Through the end of the week and weekend temperatures will continue to decline to the point where our high temperature may be below freezing for the first time since last winter. As well depending on the cloud cover and degree of cooling some upper teens temperatures may be possible through the nighttime as well. We'll see a steady decrease in temperatures throughout the week whereby the weekend as mentioned temperatures will be at their coolest. The good news is that although cold, the Thanksgiving holiday is expected to be clear in terms of precipitation! After Winter is definitely on its way so get all those heavy jackets, coats, and gloves ready!
