Accumulating snow becoming more likely for this weekend
Models continue to come into a little better agreement as far as accumulating snow for late week/early weekend. This is the morning run from the GFS and as we head into late Friday night early Saturday morning it has a nice swath of snow stretching from southeast Minnesota through north-central Illinois. While there remains to be some timing issues between different runs, the general track of the next low takes it out of the Pacific Northwest, into the Plains and through central/southern Illinois by Saturday night. Temperatures through this period should remain cold enough for an all snow event. While we can't pinpoint totals this far in advance, by tomorrow morning/night we will be able to talk snow totals. I wouldn't be surprised if some locations in northwest Illinois end up with four or more inches.
