High pressure over western Minnesota has caused skies to become partly cloudy. It will be cold with a low in the middle teens.  Skies will start off partly sunny on Friday with high pressure sitting right over our area. The high will shift east during the day allowing an Alberta Clipper system to approach from the northwest.  The low will pass to our southwest on Friday night reaching St. Louis Missouri by 6 am on Saturday.  This is nearly an ideal track to produce the maximum amount of snow that an Alberta Clipper can produce across northwest Illinois.  3 to 5 inches of snow are possible with that system on Friday night, and by the time it is all over on Saturday total accumulations across the Stateline could be in the 4" to 6" range.  There have been some indications that the system may weaken more than expected as it moves southeast, and if the track varies too much, either further to the east or further west snow fall amounts will be considerably less.  After the system moves east across Kentucky, colder arctic air will pour into the Stateline on Sunday, and even colder air will move in through the middle of next week.
