Friday Evening Weather Update

Some storms still in the forecast, but they are losing steam fast as they roll closer to the Stateline. Current radar has a potent looking storm system in northeast Iowa pushing due east.

While this system has produced several Severe Thunderstorm and Tornado Warnings through the afternoon, it is not running into cooler, more stable air moving in behind a cold front to our south. Despite hitting a high of 80 today, Rockford has cooled off significantly since and now sits in the low 60s as of observations taken at 8pm. The Storm Prediction Center has actually dropped the western part of the viewing from a slight risk of strong storms tonight.

Looks like we'll still see some rain later this evening, maybe even some rumbles of thunder, but don't expect anything more than some heavy downpours tonight. As our cold front continues to dig south, expect isolated rain chances for the weekend, with most areas staying completely dry Saturday and early Sunday.
