Mother's Day Looks Great!

A cold front is sliding slowly southward across Illinois early tonight.  The clouds will break up overnight, and skies will become mostly clear before daybreak as temperatures drop into the middle 40's.  Mom could not ask for a better day for Mother's Day on Sunday.  Skies will be sunny, light northerly breezes will be blowing, and the afternoon temperature will reach the low 70's.  High pressure will continue to keep skies clear Sunday night as temperatures drop into the  middle 40's once again.  It will be sunny on Monday as the ridge of high pressure moves across the area.  It will be a little warmer with a high in the middle to upper 70's.  Southerly winds will prevail on Tuesday in advance of a cold front dropping southward across Minnesota and Wisconsin.  The afternoon high will be close to 80 degrees.  Sunshine will be broken up a bit during the afternoon as skies become partly cloudy.  There is a chance that some showers and thunderstorms could pop up on Tuesday night in advance of the cold front as it moves across the Stateline.  Right now it does not look like a significant precipitation event with just meager amounts of rainfall expected.  The front will be well south of the Stateline by daybreak.  It will continue to move rapidly southward during the day a fade out in the southeastern states by daybreak on Thursday as high pressure moves to Michigan.  It will be mostly sunny on Wednesday and Thursday with highs in the middle 70's.  On Friday and Saturday it will continue to be mostly sunny, but with a southerly air flow, moisture levels will start to increase.  High temperatures will reach the low 80's, and there could be an isolated thunderstorm.
