Thursday Severe Weather Breakdown

Parts of the Stateline are still under a Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 7pm this evening, but at the moment storm development has held off. The current watch is for Winnebago and surrounding counties including Ogle, Boone, DeKalb and McHenry in Illinois... Green and Rock Counties in Wisconsin. A Tornado Watch is in effect for parts of central Illinois, but it looks like we won't see any tornadic activity over the next several hours.

Most of the severe weather we've seen so far today has been in Wisconsin. We've seen plenty of hail and heavy rain reports out of counties just north of the Stateline. A few storms are still firing east of Madison as of the four o'clock hour.

The NWS has hinted that our watch may be dropped early if atmospheric conditions don't improve. However, storms are still likely as a cold front begins to push in this evening. While the watch only goes until 7pm, some of these storms could still be strong with heavy rain, plenty of lightning, and some wind/hail.

We'll keep you posted through the night as storms begin to move into the area.
