Chance T-Storms Late Tonight----Blow Torch Heat Monday

A small bubble of slightly cooler air moved into the Stateline today following the passage of last night's cool front.  The temperatures reached the middle 80's today under partly cloudy skies. It was nearly a perfect day for Father's Day. An area of severe thunderstorms has broken out over Minnesota this evening with damaging winds, hail, and reports of tornados.  The southwestern end of that complex has shown some movement toward the southeast.  So, there will be a slight chance that the bowing line of thunderstorms could reach the stateline toward daybreak if that area of thunderstorms continues to move southeast, and is able to hold together.   Also, as of  11 pm some new showers and thunderstorms have popped up over southwestern Wisconsin with the southern portion just edging into the northern part of Jo Daviess county.  This activity is showing an increase in areal coverage.  It is moving east at 30 mph, and could affect areas of northern Illinois adjacent the Wisconsin border eastward between 11 pm and 2 am.  The warm front will push to the north into Wisconsin on Monday. It will be a very windy and very hot day with high temperatures in the middle to upper 90's. Winds will increase from the southwest to 25 to 35 mph by afternoon with gusts to 45 mph.  It will remain windy on Monday night with southwesterly winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 40 mph in the evening gradually diminishing to 10 to 20 mph ith gusts to 30 mph overnight.  It will be very warm with a low around 73 degrees.  On Tuesday the pressure gradient will loosen just a bit, but it will still be breezy under mostly sunny skies.  It will continue hot with a high in the middle 90's on Tuesday, and the low 90's on Wednesday.

A cool front will approach and push through the area on Wednesday night.  There will be a good chance of some much needed rainfall as showers and thunderstorms push across northern Illinois.  It will be a little cooler on Thursday with a chance of lingering showers and thunderstorms on Thursday morning.  The high on Thursday will be around 84 degrees under partly cloudy skies.    The highs on Thursday and Friday will be in the low to middle 80s. Skies will be partly cloudy.

A warm front will approach the area on Saturday, and some scattered showers and thunderstorms with develop ahead of the front.  On Sunday the warm front will push across the area from the southwest to the northeast into Wisconsin.  That will usher in hot air again, and the temperature will top out in the low 90's.
