A Hot (and Humid?) Weekend

Get ready for a big warmup over the coming days, and a little bit of summertime humidity by the end of it. High pressure has been in control over the last several days, and as we head into the weekend, this high will start to move to our east. This will open up a nice southerly flow that will bring plenty of warm air from the south. It will take a day or two, but moisture from the Gulf of Mexico will also start to get pulled into the midwest as we get further into the weekend. Right now, it looks like Saturday will just be hot, with a more humid feel on Sunday.
So how can we tell how bad the humidity will be? For that answer, we look at the dew point, or the measure of how much moisture is in the air. On Saturday, for example, dew points will only be in the 50s. Relatively speaking, that's not a lot. Dew points start to creep into the low 60s by Sunday, however, giving us a "sticky" feel. The chart to your left gives you a general idea of what dew points need to be to give you a certain level of humidity.
