Heat grips much of the country

The jetstream pattern so far this spring has been situated further north than usual allowing much of the country to experience hotter than average temperatures.  From the many Red Flag Warnings we've had here in Illinois to the high fire dangers out west, the heat is gripping much of the country and it doesn't look to let up any time soon for some.

Afternoon high temperatures will range from 90° in Green Bay, WI to the low 100s down in the desert southwest.  The pattern by the middle of the week will begin to break down with a cold front moving through Wednesday night.  After that, we'll remain with a northwest flow that will keep temperatures near average in the low 80s.
