A Snowy Saturday

This morning, it looked like our snow chances were about slim to none with the help of some dry air aloft. If you have dry air higher up in the atmosphere, it makes it harder for the snowflakes to reach the ground. But, the atmosphere became saturated and removed the dry air that was in place. As of a result, the Stateline this evening is now a beautiful winter wonderland.

Light to moderate snow has been falling since early this afternoon. There are winter weather advisories out for the our Illinois counties. The advisory for Carroll and Whiteside counties will expire at 9 PM this evening. The rest of the viewing area under a winter weather advisory will expire at 3 AM tomorrow morning. The snow looks to taper off right before midnight.

But if you are going to be out on the roads tonight, please be very careful. There are many slick spots as well as reduced visibility from higher snowfall rates.

We have been getting a ton of snowfall reports from across the viewing area. Here is a look at some of the snowfall reports so far. Our top report comes from Milledgeville in Carroll county with 4.3" of snow! In second is Crystal Lake with 3.5" and in third is Sterling at 3.4"! Enjoy the fresh snow!
