Happy 2019!!!

Happy New Year Stateline!
It's going to be a chilly start to the year with temperatures this afternoon and tomorrow in the 20s. But at least it isn't as cold as New Year's Day last year...

Last year we had the coldest high and low temperature for a New Year's Day. In 2018, the high was -1° and the low was -13°. On the other hand, we are close to normal this year as we hit our high of 32° back around 12am.

Where it is even warmer is in Orlando, Florida. That is where my Penn State Nittany Lions are taking on Kentucky in the Citrus Bowl... Penn State + citrus (orange- my favorite color) = it doesn't get better than that! Highs today in Orlando will top out in the low 80s under abundant sunshine.
After an extremely wet year, what better way to end it off than with rain, rain and more rain! We picked up .61" of rain yesterday.
Looking back over the entire year of 2018, we saw 49.61" of rain. We were 13.37" over our average for the year.
As a result, the 49.61" of rain put us at the third wettest year on record for Rockford.

We saw above average rain during February, May, June, August, September, October and December. During the months of February and June we saw record rainfall for each month.

Temperaturewise, we saw 6 months above average and 6 months below average. We ended 2018 above average for December and as we go into the weekend temperatures will be yet again nearly 10° above average.
