The National Weather Service out of Milwaukee is in the middle of a pretty impressive streak. It's been almost two years since they have issued a Tornado Warning.
What's really impressive is the current streak more than doubles the previous record set back in the late 1990s.
The National Weather Service credits a few things for the drought, including:
- The drought in 2012 that led to fewer storms.
- A cool spring in 2013 that led to fewer storms.
- Greater forecasting restraint thanks to more knowledge on tornadoes.
- Higher quality storm reports and spotters.
NWS Milwaukee has a lot more information on this. You can check it out here. -BA
