A departing upper level trough will allow skies to clear some this afternoon. Other than an isolated shower through the morning and afternoon most will remain dry today. High pressure will move into the Great Lakes for the start of the weekend but low pressure passing to the north Saturday may generate enough lift in the atmosphere to allow an isolated shower or storm to develop Saturday afternoon. The greater threat for storms will arrive late Saturday night, likely after 10pm, and continue into Sunday.
Low pressure will quickly dive southeast out of the High Plains Sunday with rain and thunderstorms spreading east into northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin. A little dry air wrapping in around the low midday Sunday may allow a brief break from the rain but showers/storms will likely redevelop late in the afternoon Sunday. Dew points will gradually rise as well making it feel a little more 'muggy' than what it has been in days past. Rainfall amounts could near one inch in some spots by Sunday night.
