Compared to last year, the Stateline hasn't gotten a taste of
summer-like heat yet. Through July 5, 2012 there were 18 days Rockford
International Airport reached or exceeded the 90° mark. In that same
time frame, we even had 3 days of 100°+ days. In 2013, we've only had 3
days above 90° and zero 100°+ days.

100°+ Comparison |
Just take a snapshot of how hot temps were in 2012 during the Independence Day holiday week: we had a
3-day streak of 100°+ temps in Rockford. Meanwhile, this year we had a very comfortable 4th of July with temps in the low 80s.

Temps will be in the upper 80s Saturday through Wednesday and heat index readings will be above 90° for most of these days. Because we really haven't had any intense heat and we are about to enter a five day stretch of hot weather, the First Warn Weather team wanted to remind you on some pointers on how to remain safe and beat the heat. - MT
