Too Hot For Even The Roads!

Today we received reports of roads buckling around Roscoe because of the extreme and prolonged heat. But what causes a road to buckle in the first place?

When roads heat up, they expand. Since roads are poured in sections, they expand into each other and create pressure. Those sections of road can only expand so much before they have nowhere to go but up, forming a buckle.

Fortunately, Saturday's highs will be back in the 80s, meaning area roads (and us!) will get a well-deserved break from the heat. -BA
