Temps are on the rise this week all courtesy of the jet stream pushing very far north into Canada (shaded blue region). This sets up a "heat dome" effect in which air from the tropics will inundate the entire region.

GFS Model Jet Stream Set Up Midweek |
Temps will continually climb pushing highs into the low 90s Tuesday through Friday. But, that's half the battle. Once you factor in the humidity, the heat index (or how hot it
actually feels) will break the century mark:

Highest Heat Indices during the Afternoon and Evening |
Here's some tips on how to beat the heat this week:
- Stay in an air-conditioned indoor location as much as possible.
- Drink plenty of fluids even if you don’t feel thirsty.
- Wear loose, lightweight, light-colored clothing and sunscreen.
- Schedule outdoor activities carefully.
- Pace yourself.
- Take cool showers or baths to cool down.
- Check on a friend or neighbor and have someone do the same for you.
- Do not leave children or pets in cars - MT
