It's been one year since the last 90° five day stretch

A Heat Advisory remains in effect for the entire Stateline through Friday evening.  Heat index values today and Friday are expected to be as high as 105° (maybe higher in areas near corn crops).  In fact, the heat index as of 10am ranges from 95° to 100°!  A cold front will signal an end to the heat this weekend before temperatures rise again across the middle of the country next week.

High temperatures Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday were all in the low to mid 90s and with highs expected to rise into the middle 90s again this afternoon it will be the fourth day with 90°+ heat!  The last time the Stateline experienced a three day stretch of 90° heat was back September 3rd - 5th, 2012 and the last time there was a five day stretch of 90°+ heat was right around this time last year - July 14th - 18th, 2012.  Temperatures could easily rise into the middle and upper 90s Friday afternoon ahead of the cold front as compressional heating and strong southwest winds warm the air.  Afternoon highs back into the 80s are expected by the weekend.
