Temperatures in the 30's so far this fall season haven't been common, but they have occurred. Just this past Saturday morning many of you reported frost on roofs and low lying areas.
This upcoming weekend, however, will be a true shot of cold fall air. Following the passage of a cold front Thursday night, temperatures will quickly take a tumble with highs only reaching the middle 50's on Friday and low 50's on Saturday. To add to the chill, overnight lows have a very good chance of falling below the freezing mark, 32 degrees, both Friday and Saturday nights! Some locations could even drop into the upper 20's! If that were to happen, a hard freeze would be possible bringing an end to the growing season.
It's not uncommon to get that cold this time in October. Our average first freeze usually occurs within the first week of October, with a hard freeze occurring within the second week.
