Warmer Pattern Holds Above Average Temperatures

The cloudy skies and 50's for highs this past weekend made it feel more like November than the beginning of October.  But, if you're a fan of the 70's and warmer weather fear not! Because it looks like the warmer pattern will return to much of the U.S. within the week.

It was another cloudy day Monday but temperatures were much improved from Sunday, with highs reaching the middle 60's.  Tuesday will also start off cloudy, but we should be able to see a little more sun during the afternoon.  Highs will be seasonable, back into the upper 60's to near 70 degrees.

An approaching cold front Thursday will bring a brief dip in highs for the afternoon Friday, but a pattern change in the jet stream will focus more of the active weather to the north into the upcoming weekend and next week.

Passing low pressure to the north will pull in warmer air across the Plains and Midwest beginning Sunday, with highs rising into the 70's.  Middle to upper 70's are possible for the beginning of next week with 80's even likely for parts of the Midwest.  The long range outlook from the Climate Prediction Center continues to hold on to the idea of the warmer than average temperatures sticking around through the second week of October.
